5-POSSIBILITY N.5 – CATERINA DEVON
It makes no sense. Last time we saw her – in the interval between Act 2 and 3 – she was with Blackbeard. Again, needs to be stressed how hard it is to reach Wano. Add to that the fact that she would need to know Oden, how he looked in the last years of his life, know who the Scabbards are, know his character. It also makes narratively just as much sense as it made having Ivankov back then when people thought he was on Onigashima, which is ZERO.
So right now the most likely options are Kanjuro and Onimaru, with the main question mark remaining: why? Kanjuro makes only sense if he’s still evil and is plotting something with Orochi; Onimaru would only make sense if he was an actual mythical creature and he was doing this out of naivety. Now we just need to wait a while until Oda goes back to this scene, since Kaido’s hybrid form and the “mysterious helper” are still up in the air even after a month of teasing. I sincerely hope it’s Kanjuro, just because this could mean that, just like with Jack’s case, Oda didn’t just drop a very relevant character with an offscreen confrontation, but saved the biggest emotional weight for one final clash
Oh, and on the matter of “who helped the Scabbards?” I still firmly believe it’s Hiyori. Kawamatsu said it felt like a dream because there’s no way it was real; there’s a chance he mistook Hiyori for Toki, given how badly he was wounded and given how much Hiyori looks like her mother.
So TLDR? I think Hiyori saved them, then hid herself because she realized someone was coming, and Kanjuro is now trying to lure the Scabbards into a trap so that he, Fukurokuju and Orochi can kill them once and for all.
Please do not let Kanjuro become a good guy just because “Orochi was betrayed, so I’m going to take it out on Kaido”; even though it would make sense, I like evil Kanjuro.
