Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the popular manga and anime series “One Piece”, is known for his meticulous planning and world-building. He has often stated in interviews that he had the ending of “One Piece” in mind from the beginning and that he carefully plans out major plot points and character arcs. However, like many long-running series, there may be some elements or developments that evolved or were added over time. Here are 8 Events Oda-sensei didn’t plan from beginning:
- Vivi being a Princess.
- Shanks appearing in Marineford War.
- Portgas D. Ace being Gol D. Roger’s son.
- Rob Lucci being villain.
- Doflamingo and Corazon having blood relationship.
- Shichibukai appearing in the manga. One Piece was originally supposed to be a story to fight Yonko, not Shichibukai.
- Supernovas still surviving in New World. Oda thought about half of them would have dropped out already.
- Trafalgar D. Water Law being an important character. Oda thought Eustass Kid would become an important character, though.
