At the end of Egghead, Garling took up his new role as Godhead of Science & Defense.
The question to ask is what will me his new way of guiding the Gorosei forward taking over for Saturn.
My immediate question with this, what will be his reaction to Blackbeard’s plan?
Blackbeard’s entire plan hinges on the idea that if he captures a beloved Marine like Koby, he can use them as a bargaining chip to make Hachinosu a World Government allied nation.
Aokiji explained that this would never work with a member of SWORD; but it can work with Garp.
I think Koby is right. The Marines would never go for a tactic like this; Akainu would never go for a tactic like that. But would Garling? Is Garling willing to hear Blackbeard out on his tactics and make Hachinosu a World Government nation?
In a bubble people would probably say no. But what if Blackbeard has more to offer than just Garp?
The Revolutionary Army currently has Mary Geoise under siege, causing them to slowly starve. And yet Lafitte is for some reason there just watching.
What if Lafitte is there to solve their issue of the food supply not making it. It wouldn’t be the first time in the story that he’s used this tactic.
It’s the same way he got an in with Sengoku. You need a Warlord? I know a guy who can make an impression.
But this time instead of going to the Fleet Admiral, he’s going a step above to Garling and the Gorosei. That’s pretty valuable.
But what if he has even more to offer?
Caribou’s information.
Caribou always ends up where there is information about the Ancient Weapons. He knows where Poseidon is, he knows where Pluton is.
It only makes sense that he will end up where Uranus is, as Oda hinted at with Caribou hearing about Mary Geoise when the Straw Hats talked about saving Vivi.
To me this is a clear suggestion that the Blackbeard Pirates are soon going to be heading to Mary Geoise themselves to barter a deal. And Lafitte is already there most likely laying the ground work. That is how Caribou can complete the trilogy and learn about all 3 Ancient Weapons.
But speaking of Poseidon, what would Garling’s reaction be to this information?
We know how he feels about Fishmen, and about the people who protect Fishmen.

On paper, that is now two nations with Ancient Weapons that are flying Luffy’s banner. One of which defied the Gods in fighting back against a Celestial Dragon.
Knowing how ruthless Garling is, knowing how much he hates the Fishmen, and knowing that Luffy on paper has access to two Ancient Weapons. As the Godhead of Defense, what do you think Garling’s next move is going to be if he hears that? To me, that sounds like Fishman Island and Wano (especially Fishman Island) might be getting a visit. And that could clear the way for Blackbeard to do whatever it is he’s trying to do in the Holy Land that makes him want to be a World Government nation.
We know there’s something special about Blackbeard’s bloodline that has put him on the World Government’s radar (more than for the obvious reasons).
And if you assume that this was the topic Shanks wanted to talk to them about, it’s just a rerun of the same trend that always happens with Blackbeard.
People lend their ear to the Blackbeard Pirates not realizing that they are being played until it’s too late. And only Shanks is wary enough to try to warn people not to listen to him. But no matter what, Blackbeard always pulls it off.
With such a major shake up in the Gorosei structure, and with such a ruthless killer at the head of defense, could Blackbeard have enough resources at hand that he can actually get them on his side? I think he might. Especially if he can convince them that Luffy has two Ancient Weapons and is the true threat at hand.
