A lot of Wano is focused on the story of Oden. One major flaw many have pointed out was his lack of faith in his Scabbards and the other people of Wano, and him trying to take things upon himself. He did this with good intentions but the outcome of course didn’t turn out well.
If you look at Kaido and his history, there’s a lot there to be explored. In Chapter 1013, you can tell that at a point, he lost faith and decided to go about things his own way. I believe something may have happened with the Rocks Pirates Crew that may have caused Kaido to lose trust and faith in his crew, and take a lot upon himself. This could be backed up by how that crew eventually dissipated.
There’s the quote “People say 1v1, always bet on Kaido”. This could exemplify how Kaido strives to be as strong and dominant as possible rather than having to place faith in his comrades.
Beyond this, you could maybe point to the hierarchy of his crew. King, Queen, Jack, etc, it seems to exemplify their place in power. Even the Tobiroppo spoke about rising up in rank, a completely different philosophy than the Straw Hats. Kaido seems to understand things logically such as when he was okay with Jack’s defeat, as he recognized the Nekomamushi and Inuarashi’s strength. There’s a lot more pieces missing but I know for a fact that Kaido is going to be very layered, just as Big Mom starting to be seen as more complex than what is seen at first glance.
In contrast to all of this is the Straw Hats. They have the upmost faith in each other and their captain. I think Luffy losing may have been a great thing, maybe to show that he can’t do it all alone. Before he could get away with it but this is a Yonko. I believe Kaido will be taken down in a group effort and it all will come down to the faith that the Straw Hats have in one another.
