Furthermore, the main counter-argument I had regarding the Alliance retreating was the idea that they couldn’t get off Onigashima because most of their ships have been sunk. With the island relocating to the Flower Capital, we don’t need to worry about how they’ll escape because they’ll already be on the Wano mainland.
Lastly, Oda stated at the end of Act 2 that the battle that’s starting on Onigashima will change the fate of the World forever. Marco reiterates this to the Big Mom Pirates in chapter 981. This happens even if the alliance loses because a loss here would signify the official return of the Rocks Pirates with the now public alliance between Big Mom and Kaido. This would instantly become priority #1 for everyone in the One Piece world and would change its landscape forever.
With this in mind, we have the following setup for the conclusion of Act 3:
- The remnants of the strongest pirate crew in the world reunites after 40 years of inactivity and have decided to pursue the Ancient Weapons and find the One Piece.
- The citizens of Wano have all been subjugated, are working in factories, and have had their wills completely shattered and broken following a failed attempt on Kaido’s head.
- Luffy, the only man poised to defeat Kaido, lies defeated and his Vivre Card’s burning to ashes. This lines up perfectly with Hawkins saying that a certain man only has a 1% chance of surviving the night.
- The surviving Scabbards are forced to watch as everything they swore to protect and fight for is destroyed by Kaido.
How is this not the ultimate tragedy of Act 3?
