I just wanted to make a post to shout out to my boy Franky who I think gets put down a lot in the the Straw Hats despite always pulling his weight and more especially when it comes to combat. Despite that even without Haki he’s shown to be more than capable. So I’m gonna break down into 3 points why I think people underestimate his fighting style.
• No Haki
I think this one is pretty self explanatory in the One Piece community. Nowdays when a character doesn’t have Haki he’s instantly seen as weaker than the other characters who possess Haki despite the fact that one of the earliest showing of Haki in the series proves literally otherwise. I’m talking about Luffy vs Sandersonia and Marigold, in which Luffy while struggling at the beginning after going Gear 2nd easily destroys them both. Which proves that while Armament and Observation are important in One Piece fights they can sometimes be overpowered by someone with better raw strength and speed. Proving that Franky doesn’t need Haki to beat someone with Haki (E.g. Sasaki)
• General Franky
In Franky’s most recent fight against Sasaki we were finally able to see the full power of General Franky (since it was beaten during the fight) and I must say that I think it really showed how strong it was. Franky almost took down Sasaki with General Franky alone (ending it with a radical beam). What I always think people forget is that after General Franky is beaten you still have Franky inside meaning you essentially have to fight Franky after accumulating damage. That’s why Franky took so much more damage against Senor Pink (plus hardboiled reasons) than Sasaki.
• Technology in One Piece
My final point is that I think technology in One Piece is highly underrated. Everyone’s alway focusing on Devil Fruits and Haki but characters like the Vinsmokes, Franky or even Queen have been shown that their technology is what makes them strong as well. The Vinsmokes still have lots of impressive feats like going against a lot of Big Mom Pirates that have Haki and holding their own or even beating some. Also Queen’s final range of weapons against Sanji was mostly technology based. In a world where everyone is so impressed by Vegapunk I’m always stumped when Franky is one his designs and still being underestimated, the Radical beam is Kizaru’s laser essentially and Kizaru’s light beams have only been stopped by a couple of top Tiers in One Piece (e.g Marco, Whitebeard, Rayleigh).
