In chapter 912, we saw the setup for fight between Luffy and Zoro against Basil Hawkins. But this may change and Zoro/ Luffy will end up beating each other.
Let’s see how Hawkins devil fruit works:
Basil Hawkins’ as-of-yet unnamed Devil Fruit ability enables him to redirect any instances of physical damage inflicted upon him to another person using straw voodoo dolls, leaving him unharmed but forcing his victim to take damage amounting to what he would have.
He was able to consecutively withstand a kick and a laser blast from Kizaru, the former having knocked him through a building. Whether Hawkins can directly choose who receives the damage is unknown. After bodily damage is taken, voodoo dolls that represent the people who took the damage are shed from his body, showing the effects of the attack.
After the timeskip, what if Hawkins is able to redirect the damage he received to specific person? So say Luffy attacks Hawkins in Gear Fourth and Hawkins directs the damage on Zoro… or the other way around.
We know that Luffy Gear Fourth Boundman can take damage from haki imbued swords. But he can defend himself against haki sword attacks in Tankman form.
So i think the fight will start where Zoro attacks Hawkins and Luffy keeps on getting hurt. Then luffy will use Tankman to keep on defending against the Hawkins redirected attacks from Zoro. They will eventually win against Hawkins when he runs out of his voodoo dolls. What do you think?
