Luffy Has a Different Personality When He’s in Gear 5 Form!

Look at how lightly he takes the situation. No Gear 5 Luffy would never just carelessly bounce around in Kaido’s attack range. Also look how he is sitting on the ground while in Gear 5:

He literally sits like a little kid, in a very childish manner

And after Gear 5 wears off his sitting position changed while sitting? A bit strange but I guess the purpose is to show that the more “childish persona” is gone now and the real Luffy is back. Now after he’s been goofing around all fight long, he gets serious all of a sudden, exactly until he fully transformes into Gear 5 again.

It’s interesting that Momonosuke mentions “Luffy’s Voice is fading”. I have 2 things to draw from this:

1. It just refers to Luffy running out of energy and moving closer to the brink of death again, due to exhaustion and maybe side effects of Gear 5.

2. Momonsouke says it exactly the moment Gear 5 comes back up. Could this maybe be Luffy’s voice fading due to Joy Boy/the Nika Fruit taking over and swapping personas?

Gear 5 is back up and he instantly goes back to goofing around and not really caring. Now just a few things in addition. He clearly keeps a part of his personality in Gear 5. This can be seen at the end of the chapter, that’s a classic Luffy panel

He looks way more serious

What’s interesting here is that he managed to get kinda serious during Gear 5, after transforming into it for the 2nd time. I feel like this whole goofiness thing and the way he acts, is something that he couldn’t control at the beginning, and after using Gear 5 the second time he got a bit better at it.
