Netflix has released a new trailer for the live action TV series of One Piece, the popular manga by Eiichiro Oda, which will be made available for streaming from August 31st.
The first season will consist of eight episodes, with the plot starting at the East Blue Saga. Episodes 2-7 are titled (in alphabetical order) “Eat at Baratie!”, “Tell No Tales”, “The Chef and the Chore Boy”, “The Girl with the Sawfish Tattoo”, “The Man in the Straw Hat”, “The Pirates are Coming”, and “Worst in the East”.
The protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy, is played by Iñaki Godoy. The other main characters are played by Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji). In addition to these, the cast includes McKinley Belcher III, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Vincent Regan, Jeff Ward, Craig Fairbrass, Langley Kirkwood, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Chioma Umeala and Steven Ward.
A letter from Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the global phenomenon, has been published as well. He points out how he expressly requested to reshoot certain sequences, as according to him “they did not meet the standards of One Piece”.
