Oda is a freaking Genius!

We know Oda tends to foreshadow events and characters in One Piece. One way he does it is by the cover page drawings. We have seen Ace’s death being foreshadowed in a cover page drawing around 50 chapters before he died.

Luffy is playing cards and seems like he lost the game. He is seen holding a single card on his left hand with Brook’s face on it which symbolizes death. He has plenty of cards on his right hand and the one on the rightmost is the Ace of Spades which symbolizes his brother, Ace. Luffy is mimicking the exact face he had when Ace died in his arms.

Interestingly enough, in a game of cards, the Ace of Spaces is considered the ‘black spot’ or a ‘card of death’ which is quite foreboding when you realise Ace was captain of the Spade Pirates.

The fact that Oda can think so far in the future just highlights his power as an author.
He is meticulously clever and dropping hints and linking things together. There are so many other instances of brilliant foreshadowing in One Piece that have come to fruition. Which is your favorite so far?
