2-Now a bit about Lightning
I think Lightning is hard to pin down to an individual idea to what it represents and I’m open to hear other’s take on this. I think the general idea is Lightning is “anti-Luffy” Kaido’s attack which first knocked down Luffy was called “Divine Thunder” and had lightning sparks.
Lightning was also found with Sanji’s family. Where his passion creates fire, they’re opposing ideals are represented in their more lightning based attacks. Enel also ate the lightning fruit, famously a big antagonist against Luffy, a bit obvious but if I didn’t bring him up when talking about lightning someone else would.
Now time to muddle things up. We’ll see some thunder attacks on the Yonko’s side as they are definitely anti-Luffy, but we could have some lightning attacks form the Supernovas. I’m talking about Law and Kid here.
Kid’s ability has already been hinted at with a bit of lightning. When he draws metal in with magnetism some sparks appear, it will be interesting to see if that element grows in his larger attacks. Kid also showing fire would be interesting as his “passion” could possibly melt the metal together making for a tougher weapon while at the same time showing his emotion.
Then Law has the radio knife an attack charged with electricity. While Gamma Knife has more flame like properties.
The point of bringing those two up is even tho I said at the start of this section that Lightning is “anti-Luffy”, two of his allies can use that element during that fight. So maybe it’s more to represent something Luffy can’t do.
But Lightning/electricity can also represent: the Devine, heaven, energy, tech, ect. So maybe there’s other interpretations to this.
3-Now onto Big Mom
She of course has both in very animated forms with Zeus and Prometheus. Oddly enough during Whole Cake Island, Zeus was removed from her. You can possibly interpret this as her ability to be “anti-Luffy” taken by Nami. That’s why she couldn’t stop Luffy then.
But now she has both. She’s going to be interesting to pay attention to and see if this metaphor continues with how she uses her power as she has the best ability to animate these metaphors.
And that’s ultimately what I wanted to bring up. When this fight unfolds it’s not just about who hits who, it’s going to be interesting to see if Fire and Lighting are going to be used in ways to continue these themes and ideas that have been threaded all thru-out these 1000 chapters.
So far we have :
- Luffy : heavy fire/all passion
- Kaido : heavy lightning/opposite Luffy
- Big Mom : Mix of both
- Law : Mix of both, but less than Big Mom as these elements have only been shown on rare occasions.
- Zoro : Likely to use fire in his attack, more of in an “aura” way.
- Kidd : Likely to have lightning in his attack, could have fire. It will be fun to see.
- Killer : Wildcard. His blades could be operated with electricity, but Franky is fueled by Cola so who knows. Once again very interested to see what he brings to the table. Maybe he isn’t used in this way at all.
