There is a popular theory among the One Piece fandom that Crocodile used to be a woman and Emporio Ivankov helped Crocodile change his gender. The theory resurfaced following the first season of the Netflix Live Action.
The doubt arose immediately, precisely in the first minutes of the first episode where during Roger’s execution we see a woman who reflects Crocodile’s distinctive features.
After seeing the scene, fans were quick to compare Crocodile’s shot in the anime and manga at this moment to the one in the live-action adaptation. We never saw Crocodile’s face in the anime and manga version, but it seems the two characters here are in the same spot watching Roger’s execution. So as you can imagine, fans began to speculate.
