Then we get this moment of him shamelessly calling out to Robin for help. To the outsiders it looks pathetic (as noted by a few characters), but to us who have followed his journey this is a huge leap.
Then there’s the added importance of him calling for Robin in particular. She spent her life moving from group to group that would only use her. Her whole backstory revolves around the sacrifice of Saul who gives her hope that she’ll one day find her friends.
She then thanks Sanji for relying on her, for being a friend that trusts her, it’s beautiful.
And we get the bonus of her declaring she’d rather die than belong to Kaido, mirroring the famous “I WANNA LIVE!”
Then we have Nami’s Pirate King moment.
Ulti gives her an (easy) ultimatum, just say Kaido will be Pirate King and i’ll let you live. All she has to do is deny Luffy (which as Usopp internally expresses – just say it!) but she can’t lie. This is just like Bellemere choosing to die rather than lie and not call Nami and Nojiko her daughters.
This raid is not Marineford 2.0. Don’t worry, there will be another one of those. That’s what has been in the works in the background this whole time with the Reverie incident, the Revolutionary Army, the World Government’s new weapon, Blackbeard on the move, Shanks as well.
“We split up and trained all over the world for this”
“You’re pitting yourselves against the new generation now”
This is what it’s about. Our crew showing they belong here, Whole Cake Island ended with Morgans declaring Luffy the 5th Emperor which was met mainly by skepticism and rage from three of the others. This raid is a showcase of our crew and how they have grown, not Marineford where our captain was nothing but an ant among monsters. Please enjoy it.
