Inside Marine HQ, Brannew and Sengoku are briefing a group of Marines about the Yonko alliance.
Sengoku likens the two Yonko as cat and dog, so their alliance is certainly surprising, and he comments how most Marines today don’t know who Rocks was. He then goes on to tell the Marines present in the room about Rocks Pirates.
The Rocks Pirates were a legendary pirate crew that were the most powerful during their era, 38 years before the current storyline.
The Rocks Pirates, as they were called, formed when a group gathered on the pirate island Hachinosu. They were a violent bunch who would kill each other regularly, even on the same ship.
The Rocks Pirates were led by Rocks D. Xebec. Everyone called him Captain Rocks, but his full name was Rocks D. Xebec (another pirate to bear the initial D.).
According to Sengoku, Rocks was Roger’s first and possibly greatest enemy. Rocks wanted to be Pirate King and he wielded his crew akin to a terrorist organization. He attacked many locations and left mass destruction in his wake. He was also very curious about subjects that the World Government had kept hidden, resulting in him dabbling in those subjects.
Although Rocks’ individual strength and abilities are unknown, he was well-reputed for presiding over a crew of extremely powerful people. Many of these people would go on to make a name for themselves, and three of them would become Yonko. Rocks D. Xebec must’ve possessed unbelievable strenght, even above that of the current Yonkos!
Many of Rocks D. Xebec’s subordinates would go on to become extremely notable pirates:
Whitebeard
Whitebeard was known as the “Strongest Man in the World” and the “Man Closest to One Piece” after Gol D. Roger’s death.
He was one of the Yonko that ruled over the New World until his death during the Battle of Marineford.
He was previously a member of the Rocks Pirates.
Big Mom
Charlotte Linlin is the captain of the Big Mom Pirates and the only female member of the Yonko. She also was part of the legendary Rocks Pirates.
Kaido
Kaido of the Beasts also known as the “Strongest Creature in the World” is one of the Yonko. Decades ago before the formation of his own crew, Kaido was part of the legendary Rocks Pirates.
Shiki The Lion
During the Roger Era, Shiki was one of the most powerful figures of the time, being on par with Sengoku, Garp, Whitebeard, and Roger.
He is the first known prisoner ever to escape from Impel Down and a former member of the Rocks Pirates.
Captain John
Captain John, was a famous dead pirate whose corpse was found by Dr. Hogback and modified into one of the General Zombies of Moria.
In his lifetime, John was once a member of the violent pirate crew known as Rocks Pirates.
At some point John later became a pirate captain with a large amount of treasure. When he decided to keep the treasure for himself rather than share it with his crew, they turned on him and he died via multiple stab wounds to the chest. However, his treasure was never found and became the subject of one of the great myths. Among those who decided to look for his lost treasure was Buggy.
The Marines present are shocked that so many famous pirates are connected and so few people knew.
Rocks D. Xebec was strong enough to keep the entire crew that consisted of massively powerful members like Big Mom, Kaido, Whitebeard and Shiki, who were willing to kill each other, showing a testament of his strength and leadership skills!
