The Astronomical Symbolism behind Gorosei, Im and Luffy
With Chapter 1073 and the reveal of one of the Gorosei’s name after a decade or longer this really opened the floodgates.
Saint Jay Garcia Saturn is very intentional name. The first thing I want to direct everyone’s attention to is Ohara’s model of the solar system.
I think it’s very intentionally shown to be earth enlarged with 5 planets in orbit. These 5 planets to represent the Gorosei with a planet naming scheme. So going along with this we can hypothesize that Im will be some type of representation of Earth or Mother Nature. And as Vegapunk explained in 1069 the natural enemy of devil fruits is Mother Nature or the sea itself.
The One Piece world is in darkness, and IM wants to keep it that way. Hence why they’re obsessed with extinguishing the light. Why does IM want to erase the light?
Ancient societies believed the universe was geocentric, with Earth as the center. They thought if the heavens are divined, & gods created humans, they must be at the center of everything.
IM and the Gorosei see themselves as gods who created & placed the Earth at the center of the cosmos.
However, the system is heliocentric, with the sun as the star, not the earth. So, why does IM want to erase the light/sun? They don’t want the world to know the sun’s existence at the center of the cosmos.
But in the end, the truth about the sun will be known.
