The Potential Significance of Sanji’s Victory vs Queen

One thing I love about these last two chapters about Sanji is that the duality between him and Queen, it’s displayed on so many points, I love it.

First, in Chapter 1031 there’s that panel that pretty much says it all. Sanji is facing the one thing he don’t want to become, the one thing completely opposed to everything he believes in, a cruel and merciless killing machine with 0 value of the human life who modified its own body to become what Sanji thinks he’s starting to turning into an ultimate and seemingly unbeatable soldier that would execute anyone if his captain orders him to.

In Chapter 1034 we have even more examples: as such as Queen having 0 respect for womens, mugging the courtesan because she wasn’t interested in him.

And the one thing even more blatant being Queen literally using the same techniques as Sanji’s family. Queen also said something pretty interesting in this chapter. He wants to prove that his science is superior to Judge’s, so he’s going to use everything the Vinsmokes have and crush Sanji to prove his superiority as a scientist.

That was his goal and the reason why he wanted Sanji to wear the suit. Sanji ended up destroying it so maybe we can’t really say tha it is still his goal but the one thing I think is really relevant is that it actually gives a new importance in Sanji’s victory against Queen.

It’s like Sanji was facing an entity representing everything he hated in his family, no respect for women, 0 value of human life, a modified killing machine who has basically no empathy toward anyone (friends or foes).

Now what I love about Sanji’s victory is that it would be, first, an indirect proof that he actually surpassed the Vinsmokes, and second, a proof that him, staying true to himself actually paid off, as it made him defeat the ONE thing he’s afraid of becoming and that he despises. There’s also the thing about the mouse, I think Sanji saving the courtesan, and at the same time, the mouse, is a great callback to who he truly is, and a proof that he hasn’t changed.
