ONE PIECE Netflix Live Action garnered an amazing response from everyone, including Japanese fans, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries and setting a new all-time record. With its impressive viewership numbers in its first 2 weeks, the series has been a true global media phenomenon. It’s no surprise that Netflix has already renewed the charming adventure series for a second season.
The two producers Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements already have in mind how many seasons ONE PIECE Netflix Live Action will have.
“We have hopes for 12 seasons, there’s so much material,” producer Marty Adelstein told Deadline.
“We’re over 1,080 chapters at this point in the manga,” said Clements. “We have plans with writer Matt Owens for how we would break multiple seasons, and I think even if we did six seasons, we would probably only use up half of the chapters of the manga. It really could go on and on and on.”
The two producers also highlighted the close relationship between the Netflix adaptation and the reference manga:
“Having the buy-in of the creator, having Oda buy into this and bless it, made a big difference. But I think the main lesson was Cowboy Bebop was an adaptation. With One Piece, we learned that you have to stay very close to the characters that the creator created, that people wanted to see Luffy as Luffy and embody all the characteristics that he had. So we stayed much, much closer, in fact, as close as we could to the original to get the fans buy in, and that seemed to be the thing that made the difference.”
ONE PIECE Netflix Season 2 should start with the Logue Town Arc which introduces Smoker.
Then we have the Arabasta Saga: when the Straw Hat Pirates enter the Grand Line, they encounter the whale Laboon. Then, they set sail to Whisky Peak where they’re targeted by the criminal organization Baroque Works and also decide to help Nefertari Vivi. After adventures on Little Garden and Drum Island, the Straw Hat Pirates and Vivi reach Arabasta, Vivi’s home, where a war is about to take place, caused by Baroque Works’ head, “Mr. 0” Sir Crocodile.
The crew will also meet a bizarre talking reindeer named Tony Tony Chopper, who will be the sixth member of the crew and the fifth to join.
