With that all being said, I return to the point of the “Guardian Deity” Devil Fruit parallel:
- Alabasta has two “Guardian Deity” Devil Fruit, both of which are inspired by mythological Egyptian figures in Horus and Anubis – The Inu Inu no Mi Model Jackal and the Tori Tori no Mi Model Falcon.
- Here we are in Wano and it has just been revealed that Yamato’s own Inu Inu no Mi is also a guardian deity of the country, and just like with Alabasta it is a deity inspired by a real Japanese mythological being.
Thus, I believe that this arc which is already laden with so many parallels to Alabasta, will also feature the additional parallel of two guardian deity Devil Fruit, one mythical Inu Inu model belonging to Yamato and a mythical Tori Tori model belonging to Hiyori.
Thus, the “Momotaro party” will consist of:
- Momonosuke – who takes the form of the lauded Eastern Dragon, he is to replace Kaido, the current dragon, as the proper ruler of Wano who is seen as a Guardian Deity.
- Luffy – The “Monkey” whose appearance has been likened to a Wisdom King/Guardian Deity as well.
- Yamato – The “Dog” whose Mythical Inu Inu fruit is a Guardian Deity of Wano.
- Hiyori – The “Pheasant” who will also have a Mythical Tori Tori fruit that is another Guardian Deity of Wano.
Momonosuke the true ruler of the throne who is both a mix of Kaido and Oden will be accompanied by the two guardian deities of Wano, Yamato and Hiyori who are the daughters of each, all three together represent the three divine siblings of Japanese mythology:
- Momonosuke who has taken inspiration from Susanoo, slayer of the Yamata no Orochi using the sword Ame-No-Habakiri – the same sword he has inherited.
- Yamato, “Onihime” (Demon/Ogre Princess) daughter of Kaido and “sibling” of Momo, whose back story took inspiration from Amaterasu, the goddess who was locked away in the Heavenly Wisdom Cave.
- Hiyori, “Tsukihime” (Moon Princess) daughter of Oden and actual sibling of Momo, who takes inspiration from Tsukiyomi – the last of the three divine siblings and deity of the moon.
