We already have proof that Kaido knows exactly what Awakening is.
Although this is all true, how would Kaido have even got an Awakening when Kaido only just got his Devil Fruit in God Valley? Doesn’t Awakening give you full control of your body? This might be answered by one of Oda’s oldest plot threads which would be tied to gigantification and Chopper’s Monster Point. It is mentioned in this innocuous flashback with Chopper and Caesar.
Why have Caesar come back in this mini flashback and Chopper’s rumble ball? Caesar quite literally compares Chopper’s Monster Point to gigantification and the Numbers are quite literally failed ancient gigantification experiments. They have been with Kaido for over 20 years already when we saw them back in Oden’s flashback.

There is a huge possibility that Kaido’s monster form happened due to a gigantification experiment which caused Kaido to going berserk and killing everyone, friends and foes alike, in the God Valley Incident. This explains why Big Mom “betrayed”/left Kaido and calls Kaido, that thing. It explains Kaido’s epithet as the Strongest Creature and the Embodiment of Brutality. Kaido was experiemented on and forced into a Gigantification/Monster Point form possibly as an Awakening.
This could be classified as a forced awakening where if your body and mind are not ready for it, it would cause damaging affects like where your state of mind cannot control your body as seen with Chopper and the Impel Down guards. Chopper blacked out and could not remember what happened in his Monster Point. The Impel Down guards and the Numbers basically lost their minds to these forms. Kaido must be similar to them in that case during the Gods Valley Incident and just went on a massive rampage.
It explains his sympathy toward experiments like King and the Numbers and why Vegapunk’s artifical dragon fruit is a failure compared to Kaido’s fruit. They wanted to replicate a Gigantification/Awakening on the dragon fruit.
